A man died after his car went off the road, hit a telephone pole and was found in a field Wednesday.The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the 2900 block of Old Salisbury Road. Officers located the vehicle on the side of the road with the driver, Michael David Kestner, dead inside.The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit responded and took over the investigation. Investigators said Kestner was driving north on Old Salisbury Road when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road to the ridge, collided with a guy wire and telephone pole, and came to a stop in the field on the right side of the road.The 2900 block of Old Salisbury Road is closed for telephone pole repairs, according to police.This is the fourth traffic-related fatality for 2020, compared to five during the same period in 2019.Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-727-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
