WACO, Texas (KWTX) A local teenager was jailed Thursday and police were looking for two other suspects following a chase that ended in a crash after someone in the car in which he was riding started shooting from inside the vehicle.

Christian Norwood, 19, is charged with deadly conduct.

His bond had not been set Thursday morning, according to online records.

An officer was in the area when the shots were fired from the vehicle at around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the area of North 20th Street and Mitchell Avenue, Officer Garen Bynum said.

“Our officer quickly attempted to stop the vehicle, however, a short pursuit ensued north through the neighborhood,” Bynum said.

The chase ended in the area of North 20th and McFerrin Avenue when the sedan in which Norwood and two others were riding slammed into a fence.

Two of the occupants fled, but Norwood “was trapped inside by the fence and was arrested at the scene of the crash,” Bynum said.

The officer was not injured.
