Nilmar Honorato da Silva (Nilmar) is a Brazilian football striker that currently plays for the Brazilian football team of Internacional. Nilmar has to date played for three different football teams, and is currently enjoying his second spell with Internacional.

Beginning his professional career with Internacional in 2002, Nilmar was quickly able to establish himself strongly as a striker, scoring 16 goals in 42 league appearances. He played incredibly well for the club, so well in fact that in 2004 Lyon signed the player for 5 million pounds. It never really worked out for Nilmar with Lyon; he scored two goals on his debut and looked as though he'd enjoy a successful spell with the club, after this point he failed to score again in the league however, and in 2005 he was loaned back to Brazil with Corinthians, and ultimately went on to sign for the club.

With Corinthians Nilmar was able to establish himself back in Brazilian football, there were problems with the club paying him however, and he therefore became a free agent in 2007 when the employment authorities intervened to free Nilmar from his contract. Now able to joined whichever team he wanted; Nilmar opted to rejoin Internacional, and since returning to the club has again been hugely successful, finding the net 19 times in 35 appearances. Nilmar has enjoyed league and cup success with Internacional since returning, and now stands strong as one of the very best strikers in Brazilian football.

Successful at club level; Nilmar has also shown glimpses of brilliance as an international, scoring two goals in eight appearances for his country so far. Nilmar won the 2009 Confederations Cup with Brazil, and looks to have a very promising international career ahead of him in football. Nilmar is a player that most definitely knows where the goal is, and the five foot eleven striker always causes the opposition defenders problems when he's on the field.

Nilmar is still only 25 years old, and who knows what lies ahead of him in football. He'll surely be adding to his international caps tally, and no doubt will go on to score many more goals in football also; quite where his future lies though we'll just have to wait and see. Nilmar has already played in Europe once, perhaps another spell in European football lies ahead for the player though, and if he does indeed return to European football then I'm sure that he'll be hugely successful.

Nilmar is an absolutely excellent football striker, and one that no doubt has a fantastic career ahead of him in football.
