Kevin McDonald is a Scottish footballer that currently plays for Burnley in the English Premier League. McDonald has been with Burnley since summer 2008, and previously played for Dundee FC in the Scottish First Division. Kevin McDonald plays in the position of midfield, and is both tall and strong which helps him hugely in his position.
Kevin McDonald actually began his professional career with Dundee in 2005, and went on to make 90 league appearances for the club before finally moving on. McDonald established himself strongly as a player during this period, and showed himself to be a very talented footballer. He's capped at Under-21 level for Scotland, and has even scored for his country at this level. He's a very promising young player, and still only 20 years-old; Kevin McDonald has the definite potential to go on to achieve fantastic things in football.
Half a million pounds was enough to prize McDonald away from Dundee in summer 2008, and he went on to enjoy a very successful first season with Burnley in which he saw his new team promoted to the English Premier League. McDonald made many of his appearances in his first season with the club from the bench, despite his lack of starts he was still able to score however, and looks as though he could well enjoy many happy seasons at Turf Moor.
Burnley manager Owen Coyle has a lot of faith in young Kevin McDonald, and McDonald will no doubt continue to figure in his plans as the club enters into its first season back in the top flight of English football. McDonald has already shown great signs of potential as a player, and if he continues to improve at the rate he has been then there's just no telling how brilliant this player can go on to become in the future. It's surely only a matter of time before Kevin McDonald is given the opportunity to earn his first full Scotland cap, and McDonald will definitely be working as hard as possible to try and make that happen in the not too distant future.
Kevin McDonald is a very promising young Scottish midfielder, and although he still has a lot to learn as a footballer; already he is displaying distinct potential, and I'm sure that the 2009/10 season will see McDonald make many Premier League appearances for Burnley Football Club. Keep an eye out for Kevin McDonald in 2009/10, and watch out for this player's supreme quality as the season unfolds.
