Jay Rodriguez is an English football striker that currently plays for Burnley in the English Premier League. Rodriguez was developed in the Burnley youth system, and first signed professional terms with the club in 2007.

Rodriguez was always a player with fantastic potential, and as he rose through the Burnley youth system he always looked destined to break into the first team. He's a tall and talented player, and certainly knows how to smack the ball into the goal when given the opportunity. He really is a very promising young player, and has already shown great signs of potential whilst playing in the Burnley first team.

Rodriguez spent time on loan with Stirling Albion in 2008, playing well for the club and showing fantastic strength in front of goal. The speedy striker returned to Burnley however, and although there has been talk of the player perhaps returning to Scotland at some stage; Burnley manager Owen Coyle insists that Jay Rodriguez's future is at Burnley, and has shown fantastic faith in the player that he has what it takes to become a first team regular.

Jay Rodriguez became very familiar with life in the Burnley first team throughout the 2008/09 season, often coming on as an impact substitute throughout the season. Rodriguez also scored some important goals for Burnley, including a goal in the League Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur. He's still only 19 years old; already Jay Rodriguez is working his way into the Burnley first team though, and as he continues to grow in experience and stature, Rodriguez will no doubt be used more often by Burnley manager Owen Coyle.

Jay Rodriguez is most definitely an English striker to watch out for in the future, and in the 2009/10 season it's probable that Owen Coyle will continue to play Rodriguez in the Burnley first team, gradually bringing the player on to get involved in more and more minutes of competitive football.
Last season saw him come on many times as a substitute, the 2009/10 season should see him get more starts though, and Burnley fans will no doubt be treated to many more matches of football involving the talented young striker that is Jay Rodriguez.

There are a lot of very talented young players in English football right now, and Jay Rodriguez is most definitely one of them. Watch out for Jay Rodriguez in the Premier League in the 2009/10 season, and expect the young player to score some seriously stunning goals.
