Great waiting lobby, and I just spent a few min chatting with another customer who told me that her son found this place and have been coming here for many years. I came here to get my tires rotated but also to check them out myself to see if this could be my new home. I just moved to Boyle Heights and needed a mechanic that would be honest with me about my car. I’m on a budget but will always try take care of my car first.
Customer spoke very highly of this place and the owner.

Working in the auto repair industry must be tough… they get a pretty bad rap for overcharging people and not being honest, so I was hesitant when I thought I needed some service to be done. However, after talking to the guy and having him show me what the issue REALLY was, he told me there was nothing really needed.
I didn’t get any service done here, but it was nice and refreshing to see him take the time to explain what the issue was and not take my money just for the sake of taking my money

Avo and his team are knowledgeable, professional, quick, and all offer outstanding customer service. Avo is a straight arrow and gives you honest feedback. His recommendations are based on the situation of your car and your circumstances. I’ve received nothing but honest service and never up sold on anything since day one.
I’ve had multiple oil changes, a filter replaced, flat tire patched, and new brakes installed on my Toyota Avalon. All work has been done quickly, efficiently, and fairly priced.
The time he takes to explain and educate you regarding repairs and general car information is invaluable. It really shows how much he cares about his work/passion.
It’s not the easiest task finding an honest, knowledgeable shop that’s fairly priced. And then there’s Avo’s Automotive.

P.S. This review is on my own terms! Avo, if you read this, you should politely ask your customers to leave you a yelp review should they want to. I know there must be a ton of people who’ve left your shop happy and could share their positive experiences on here.
Fist off let me just say The crew at Avos Automotive are awesome. I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado that needed a tune up and some AC work. I had no idea what was wrong with the AC. It just was not turning on at all. Took it in to the guys and figured out it was the AC Compressor. They did a great job on the truck feels great. The AC was blowing cold. The price was really affordable. I paid now where the amount I was expecting. I would definitely go back and refer all my friends and family. Avo thank you guys for the great work.
I reached out to Avo’s over Yelp on a Saturday morning for a quote on some regular maintenance work (oil change, brake inspection, cabin air filter change, etc.). Within 10 minutes (or less), Ago responded with a very reasonable quote and said he could take care of it on that day! I had reached out to a couple of other businesses on Yelp, but they either didn’t respond or responded much later. I was super impressed with Avo’s promptness and decided to visit him. Unfortunately, I had some chores at the time, so I set up an appointment for the next Monday.
As I was dropping of the car, he made meticulous notes of all the things I mentioned. He said he’ll text me with his findings and the estimate. I got a text within an hour, but I was not prepared to receive a link in the text. The linked website had all the checks he had done (together with photos of those parts in my car), an indicator whether the check passed (red/yellow/green) and his recommendation. Very very impressive!
When I gave him a call, he explained to me what should be taken care of right now (the red ones), and how much it would cost. I gave the green light, he made the fixes, and I picked up later in the day. The smell from the cabin air is gone, and the brakes have stopped squeaking. I’m definitely coming back to Avo’s.
These guys are the best in the business. They are smart, cost efficient and descriptive of the services they perform on your vehicle. If you are looking for an honest advisor Avo’s is your go to guy. I brought my baby (jeep wrangler) in because she was sick. My brake light came on and I had some serious issues with my brakes in the back. I text Avo and immediately he set up an appointment for us to come in. While there, Avo explained in detail what was going on, ordered the parts I needed and fixed my brakes in a timely fashion. All while checking my fluids, flushing my oil and preparing me for my next service. Avo and his team are the best in the business!!! If you have any car issues go out of your way and head to Avo’s Automotive.
I don’t normally write reviews on Yelp but after my experience with Avo, I had to make sure I gave him and his shop a good review.
Backstory:
So, I recently bought a salvaged car and was in the process off adding the vehicle to my insurance policy. Before I could the add the car to my policy, the insurance company wanted me to get a form filled out by a certified mechanic saying the car was in good shape.
After searching on Yelp for certified mechanics, I stumbled upon Avo’s shop. I saw that he had great reviews so I messaged him asking for a quote. Within about 30 minutes or so, Avo responded to me with a quote that was cheaper than the other shops I had messaged.
Once I saw that Avo was quoting me a fair price, I decided to drive the car to shop. Upon arrival, Avo greeted me and told me that he would do the inspection then and there.
After Avo inspected the car and signed the insurance document, I took out cash to pay him. When I was about to hand him the money, Avo said he could not accept the money. At that moment, I was stunned! I went to his shop expecting to pay the amount we had agreed on but Avo was gracious enough to inspect my car and fill out the insurance form for free!
I left Avo’s shop thinking “damn, there are still good people in this world.”
With that said, I highly recommend anyone looking for a mechanic to take their car to Avo. I sure as hell will be taking cars to him in the future because he’s an honest, helpful man.

Avo responds very quickly and provides quality customer service. He recommends the best parts/materials for any replacements in your car and goes out of his way to explain the benefits of those parts and the work that he does. He also orders the parts himself from trust worthy vendors, removing the hassle of searching and ordering them yourself. Highly recommend if you live in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.
I found Avo’s Auto through Yelp after moving to Los Angeles and needing to find a new mechanic. Everyone here is so great and helpful. I’ve been going to Avo’s for about a year now for my oil changes and regular maintenance. Everything is always thoroughly explained to me. It’s a great thing when you can find a shop you trust (especially as a woman). Meaning, they aren’t taking advantage of my limited knowledge of the automotive.

Entrance/Location:
A bit of trouble finding entrance (see video). Signage is not clear. Next to/a part of ampm and carwash. Not clear where to wait, but I just pulled up to the car service area and asked (it happened to be Avo. There aren’t any other workers that I noticed right away. Maybe one or two).
Wait time:
The car service area was full but a car in front of me was just finishing up. I had called beforehand asking for a quote and wait time for an oil change, which is considered a quick service (30 minutes)
Service/Cost:
After about 5-10 minutes of waiting, while writing this review and posting photos, I received a text with a link to my car’s inspection results (including recommended actions, car status. Cool!
After another 10 minutes, still writing the review, Avo says my car is ready!
Even though you get the inspection report, Avo still went over a couple of the points and he was very honest about things I could do myself and things I could hold off on doing. (Btw changing your cabin filter will be $18 which is just the cost of part from here; he doesn’t charge for labor on that)
Oil change with fully synthetic oil for a Corolla (including new filter and multi point inspection) = $75 flat. Very fair price. Will definitely come back if I don’t find something better. I love meeting honest service providers!
*Does not do wheel alignment…yet.
Stop by to check the place out because of the reviews and I was very happy with the service. I went in for oil change and brakes and the prices were reasonable and the work is good, I would definitely come back here again for future service and recommend them to anyone. also I even got a follow up call to make sure I was totally satisfied with the service.
Avo rules! My clutch was absolutely toasted. I had been putting it off thinking it would be a hassle, expensive, and I would be without a car for a while. But Avo and his crew made the whole process a breeze. I dropped my car off Friday morning and they had it ready the next afternoon. I was away from home, and Avo offered to meet me after hours to pick up my car, next level service. Great work, honest prices, top notch customer service, hyped to have these guys in the neighborhood!
Cool little shop sandwiched between a gas station and car wash. Intake was quick, and was out soon. Didn’t try to up-sell me on garbage I didn’t need and appreciated that. Definitely coming back.
Honestly, the team here goes over and beyond. Avo personally took a kind interest in me as a customer having the unfortunate and very terrible purchase of a Chrystler PT Cruiser moving to California from New Zealand. The car has been through the ringer. This superb electrical technician at the shop worked endless through kinks from spliced wires. Allot of this was a result of me heading to shops of S Alameda St. with the idea of saving, when in the end it cost me more.
Affordability discovering their Shop wasn’t the only perk but having great people who gave me an honest insight on dealerships. Understanding that those dealerships would rather risk not only my safety, but my financial wellbeing performing needless extra diagnoses checks for commission rates. As a matter of life or death, it is offensive.
We are worth more than profiteering at the expense of our respective families lives. I had to learn allot of mechanical, electrical dealing with my car to not continuously get duked & did my best with the cruiser. The guys repaired & mentored me in a manner there is no other shop I’d rather support. Having a restored faith in trustworthy craftsmanship with mechanics thanks to you guys.

Called this AM to have a new power steering hose installed after trying unsuccessfully to do it myself w/out the right tools. Spoke w/ Avo on the phone and was told to stop by. When I got to the shop, Avo came out to greet me and ended up doing the work himself. Great work, extremely knowledgeable, and fantastic customer service. Avo’s the man!
Avos is the BEST!!!! Very honest and courteous. I’ve gone there several times and from the very first time he was honest and trustworthy. I had an issue with an oil leak due to a small crack in my engine and he was able to help me out where I don’t have to replace the whole engine or whatever it was it needed. He explained to me exactly what it was and told me that I could probably get away with not having to replace certain part he told me just to keep coming to make sure that my oil was OK. I went last time and he added some oil no charge I went today because my car was overheating he explained to me that it was the cap he replaced it at no charge. I was afraid that I was going to have to pay at least a couple hundred dollars and it helped out a lot because I’m currently on unemployment and I was freaking out thank you so much Avos!!!! The best!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
