Two killed, four others injured in two-vehicle crash on I-80 near Joslin

JOSLIN, Ill. (KWQC) – Two people were killed and four others were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash near Joslin.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Interstate 88 westbound, the Illinois State Police said in a media release.

According to state police, the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2006 Black Jeep Liberty was driving eastbound on I-88 when, for an unknown reason, it veered off the roadway, traveled through the center median and overturned.

The jeep struck a westbound 2017 White Ford Edge head-on and came to a rest on its roof in the westbound lanes of traffic, according to state police.

The Ford came to a stop facing eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic.

The driver of the Jeep, Songolo Lolonga, 38, of Rock Island, and passenger Wilonja M. Mashimango, 27, also of Rock Island, were killed in the crash.

No injuries in two-vehicle crash Friday


Failure to stop at a traffic light resulted in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon around 3 p.m. in the intersection of W. Main and West St. in front of the Republican party headquarters in Hillsboro. According to the Hillsboro Police Department, Ashley Kiley of Seaman was driving a 2017 Dodge SUV and was struck in the front passenger side of the vehicle by a 2018 Ford pick-up truck driven by Caleb Bohrer of Hillsboro. Officers reported that Bohrer was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, but no injuries were reported by the drivers.

16-year-old killed in two-vehicle crash in Bessemer Monday night

A Jefferson County teenager was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday night in Bessemer.The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as Taylor Ronald Akin, 16, of Adger.Akin was a passenger in a Chevrolet Camaro that was traveling south on 15th Street Road near the CCC Camp Road intersection.The Camaro collided with a Chevrolet pick-up truck that was also traveling south on 15th Street Road, according to the police report.The collision caused the Camaro to roll multiple times and come to a stop of the shoulder of the road.Akin was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.The driver of the Camaro was taken to an area hospital.

Two-vehicle crash at Caldwell intersection: Suspect in custody at Canyon County Jail

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Caldwell on Sunday morning.

CALDWELL, Idaho — Update 12:58 p.m.: Thurston is currently in custody at the Canyon County Jail. He is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and aggravated DUI.

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle wreck that left one person dead and three in the hospital. The crash occurred around 2:05 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Key West Street and South Florida Avenue in Caldwell, according to ISP.

37-year-old Caldwell resident Janet Gonzalez was heading southbound on South Florida Avenue. 20-year-old Nampa resident Grayson Thurston was driving in the same direction when Thurston’s vehicle struck Gonzalez’s vehicle, according to ISP.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene, ISP says.
