Man dead after single vehicle crash in Spartanburg, coroner says


The Spartanburg County coroner says one man is dead after a single vehicle crash within the city Saturday evening.Rusty Clevenger, Spartanburg County coroner, says the crash happened on Fernwood Drive around 7:15 p.m.Clevenger says Lothar Giesbertz, 55, was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.The City of Spartanburg Traffic Division is investigating the crash, the coroner says.

Man dead after crash, vehicle found in field

A man died after his car went off the road, hit a telephone pole and was found in a field Wednesday.The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash in the 2900 block of Old Salisbury Road. Officers located the vehicle on the side of the road with the driver, Michael David Kestner, dead inside.The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit responded and took over the investigation. Investigators said Kestner was driving north on Old Salisbury Road when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road to the ridge, collided with a guy wire and telephone pole, and came to a stop in the field on the right side of the road.The 2900 block of Old Salisbury Road is closed for telephone pole repairs, according to police.This is the fourth traffic-related fatality for 2020, compared to five during the same period in 2019.Anyone with information about the … Read More

Tampa police: 2 dead after motorcycle and bicycle collide on Bayshore Blvd.

A bicyclist and a motorcyclist died Saturday morning following a crash on Bayshore Blvd. near Rome Ave., according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said three motorcyclists were riding northbound on Bayshore Blvd. when one of them crashed into a bicyclist that was crossing Bayshore Blvd. at a crosswalk.

The motorcyclist died on the scene and the bicyclist was taken to an area hospital and died. 

Witnesses said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision. One witness even took off his shirt in an attempt to help the injured bicyclist.
