Bicycle Thieves (Ladri di biciclette) (The Bicycle Thief) (1949)

This landmark Italian neorealist drama became one of the best-known and most widely acclaimed European movies, including a special Academy Award as “most outstanding foreign film” seven years before that Oscar category existed. Written primarily by neorealist pioneer Cesare Zavattini and directed by Vittorio DeSica, also one of the movement’s main forces, the movie featured all the hallmarks of the neorealist style: a simple story about the lives of ordinary people, outdoor shooting and lighting, non-actors mixed together with actors, and a focus on social problems in the aftermath of World War II. Lamberto Maggiorani plays Antonio, an unemployed man who finds a coveted job that requires a bicycle. When it is stolen on his first day of work, Antonio and his young son Bruno (Enzo Staiola) begin a frantic search, learning valuable lessons along the way. The movie focuses on both the relationship between the father and the son

The Outdoor Elliptical Bike – BicycleDesk

The New Bike Concept: Run, Don’t Ride

Here’s a novel idea: Instead of riding a bike, why not run on your bike? Instead of sitting on your bike, why not use a stand-up version?

The outdoor-capable elliptical bike is a relatively new kind of exercise wonder that is like riding a bicycle, but in place of sitting and pedaling away to propel yourself into motion, you’re upright and use a soft running motion to move forward instead.

Think of it as a running bike, instead of the regular one your ride. It’s so much fun to use, you’ll hardly realize how much exercise you’re also getting.

And in this article, I’ll show you just how it helps you achieve all that, how it works, and why.

It’ll be among the most fun you’ll experience while breaking a sweat. But first, some perspective.

The “I Want to Exercise But It’s

Bicycle Theft | ASU Center for Problem-Oriented Policing

What This Guide Does and Does Not Cover

This guide addresses bicycle theft, beginning by describing the problem and reviewing the factors that contribute to it. It then identifies a series of questions to help you analyze your local bicycle theft problem. Finally, it reviews responses to bicycle theft and describes the findings of evaluative research and operational policing. It will be apparent that despite the various responses being advocated or implemented, there are no systematic evaluations of what works to reduce bicycle theft. Addressing this is important for police practice, as the evidence base should inform decision-making regarding appropriate responses. However, we already know a lot, and this guide outlines how such knowledge (including a portfolio of responses) can usefully inform the crime reduction enterprise. In addition, it identifies what information you need to better understand your local problem and effectively evaluate responses implemented.

This guide refers specifically to
